WP Chamber Choir

Chamber Choir at William Paterson University

The William Paterson University Chamber Choir is a highly advanced ensemble of 24–34 auditioned singers from several majors across the university in addition to music. The ensemble performs a wide range of traditional to contemporary choral literature, including new compositions by emerging composers. In addition to its own repertoire, the Chamber Choir sings combined works with the Concert Choir, Men’s and Women’s Choruses, the Internationally recognized Jazz Orchestra, University Orchestra, WP Opera, and Pop Vocal Ensembles. In both 2022 and 2018, The Chamber Choir toured internationally to Europe. Performances included Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican, St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice, and a full High Mass at the State Cathedral in Salzburg, conducted by head Domkapellmeister, János Czifra. With a focus on small consort singing and preparation, the Chamber Choir is dedicated to performing both traditional and contemporary secular and sacred choral literature to the highest standards –- a necessity for the twenty-first century vocalist.

The Chamber Choir performs in several concerts a year both on campus and throughout the community. Seniors majoring in choral music education are often asked to conduct on concerts as part of their degree preparation in addition to serving as section and consort leaders.

The Chamber Choir is directed by Dr. Lauren Fowler-Calisto.
